The 7000 Series meters provide quick-change
versatility. Many different variables can be measured on one
meter by simply switching the meter's scale and using a different
multiplier or shunt compatible with the new scale. A few basic
ranges and a supply of interchangeable dials make the 7000 Series
an inexpensive equivalent of many single meters.

Black Phenolic panel meters are rugged, stylish,
sensitive and accurate. They range in size from 3 1/2" to 5 1/2" and
can be either front or bezel mounted. Their rugged designs are
particularly suitable for use in demanding environments. The Black
Phenolic panel meters have a standard indication accuracy of ±2%
full scale for DC ranges (±3% for AC ranges) and are available with
"Super Calibrated Accuracy" of ±0.5% for exacting measurement
requirements.
The Model 426 is a versatile panel meter with a
low-profile thin front. It has a scale approximately equivalent to
that of a conventional 4 1/2" meter, but the dial area height is the
same as that of a 3 1/2" meter. The Model 426 requires no more panel
space than other meters with shorter scales. Designed so that it is
equally attractive and practical whether mounted in front of a panel
or recessed, the Model 426 has found immediate acceptance in today's
narrow rack panels.

The 1000 Series Edgewise panel
instruments have been designed to satisfy the demand for an
attractive and accurate analog display in a minimum of panel
space.
A novel case design permits
snap-together access to the dial and mechanism for convenient
dial changing. The case itself - clear front window and black
case - is molded from high impact polycarbonate.
The unique flat d'Arsonval mechanism
with pivot-and-jewel suspension provides 2% accuracy with either
vertical or horizontal mounting. Unsurpassed stability makes
frequent zero adjusting unnecessary. The Models 1015 and 1025
have rear zero adjustment while the Model 1035 features a unique
front adjustment.
Panel mounting has been simplified
in the 1000 Series. Two mounting clips are attached without
screws to the meter case after it has been inserted through its
panel cutout. The clips are then tightened against the
panel.

Ruggedized-sealed panel meters are
designed and built to function in severe environments. The meter
movement is securely anchored in a gasket-sealed metal case to
provide protection against severe shock, salt spray, fungus and
corrosive chemicals. The meter conforms to the gasket-sealing
requirements of the MIL-M-10204-C specifications. The
ruggedized-sealed panel meters are available in three sizes: 2
1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" diameters. These panel meters are
identical in appearance and in dimensions with the other
LFE/api ruggedized-sealed instruments
(pyrometers and meter relays). This interchangeability
facilitates panel designing and functional upgrading.
The ruggedized-sealed panel meters
use d'Arsonval meter mechanisms. The meters are furnished with
taut band suspensions as standard in the sensitive ranges from 0-
5mA to 100mA and 0-5mV to 0-25mV. Taut band suspensions may be
specified for other ranges as required. The higher ranges are
normally furnished as pivot-and-jewel mechanisms. Taut bands
provide the advantage of friction-free measurements for the
ultimate in accuracy. Taut bands also allow the meter to respond
to extremely small signals, extending the application of
ruggedized- sealed panel meters to areas of sensitivity not
previously possible. Additionally, taut band meters offer
increased resistance to shock and vibration over older pivot-and
jewel designs. Because severe vibration can cause momentary
erratic readings on taut band meters, Triplett can provide
specially damped meters which are free of this problem, but have
relatively slow response times. LFE/api ruggedized-sealed panel
meters have a one year warranty.

Optical Compack Controllers operate on an optical
principle associated with the meter mechanism. A light source
(incandescent lamp) and a photo-resistive cell combination are
positioned by the setpoint mechanism. An opaque vane is attached to
the meter mechanism so that when the indicating pointer reaches the
setpoint the vane intercepts the light from the source, causing a
sharp change in resistance of the photocell. The resistance change
is used to actuate a relay driver circuit for control of an external
load. The response characteristics of D'Arsonval mechanisms
automatically provide filtering of the input signal, making Compack
Controllers immune to line noise and transient surges. Optical type
controllers are the best choice for applications in electrically
noisy environments.

Magnetic-contact meter-relays offer the simplest
but still positive control action in the field of electro-mechanical
devices. They are especially suitable for applications where only
low voltage is available across the meter but a reliable contact
must be made and held at setpoint. Usually an alarm is actuated or
an opening mechanism is shut down.
When the moving element contacts of a
magnetic-contact meter-relay close at setpoint, auxiliary contact
pressure is provided by small permanent magnets to ensure a low
resistance contact circuit. Unlocking is accomplished by
mechanically resetting the contacts.

Locking Coil Meter Relay Round
Ruggedized
Models:
255C (2.5") 355C (3.5") 455C (4.5")
|
Locking-Coil meter-relays are essentially
d'Arsonval meter mechanisms with setpoint arms and contacts. The
locking coil of the meter-relay is an integral part of the signal
coil and is wound with the signal coil as part of the meter-relay's
moving element. The locking coil is energized when the indicating
pointer reaches the setpoint. Torque produced by the locking current
drives the contacts together and holds them firmly together to
create an excellent low resistance control circuit. The way that
LFE/api locking coil contacts open is
another reason for their consistent performance. The meter relays
are designed so that the contacts open only after the locking coil
circuit has been broken. A small spark is produced when the contacts
"make". This keeps them free from pitting while a wiping motion on
each "make" and "break" keeps them clean.
The LFE/api
locking-coil meter-relay is an extremely simple and stable device to
apply in limit control applications. It indicates as well as
controls. No readout circuitry is needed in the control system, and
precise control with indication is provided at moderate cost. Only
three basic components are required for the system: a high or low
setpoint locking-coil meter-relay, a load relay and a DC power
source. A double setpoint control system is hardly more
complicated; it requires only a
LFE/api double setpoint meter-relay
and an extra load relay.

Variety of control functions

3 foot cable for connection to
Meter-Relay
-
12, 24 or 28 VDC supply optional
-
DPDT Output Relays optional
Optical meter relays provide a resistance change
at setpoint. Before they can provide a high-level control function,
a control module is required. LFE/api
control modules are available with the following control functions:
On/Off (also used for limit or cycling control applications), time
proportioning relay, SCR phase fired pulse and 3-zone control. The
3-zone control module contains two relay outputs to provide relay
closures when the measurement signal exceeds the limits of the dead
band at a single point.
Modules can be used with single or double
setpoint meter relays for control applications using temperature,
current or voltage sources. Because the module is mounted remotely
from the meter relay, valuable space behind the panel is saved. The
module is connected by plug-in cable to the Optical Meter Relay. The
standard cable length furnished with the module is three feet.
Lengths up to twelve feet are optionally available.

Here are the controllers for your
tough jobs - applications where shock or vibration creates problems
for mechanical controllers. All control functions in the
LFE/api Compack IV controllers (X Series)
are provided through integrated circuits to operate independently
from the meter. The Compack controller continues to operate even if
the meter should become damaged or inoperative. This isolation of
control functions meets the need for controllers engineered to
provide "laboratory precision" on production machinery.
The Solid-State Compack IV
controller processes input signals from thermocouples, RTD, AC or DC
sources for control applications involving On/Off, Alarm, Limit,
Time Proportioning or cycling control modes.
